Hornets headed to Class 3A Playoffs

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is set to compete in the KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.

High school football teams from across the state are preparing to take the field in the postseason. Magoffin County is slated to visit Bell County in the opening round of the KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 3.

The Hornets have won three of their last four games.

Magoffin County is 4-6. The Hornets have notched wins over Martin County, Powell County, Estill County and Morgan County.

Magoffin County has dropped games to Montgomery County, Lewis County, Leslie County, Russell, Belfry and Lawrence County.

Bell County is 9-1. The Bobcats have notched wins over North Laurel, Boyd County, Letcher County Central, Perry County Central, Whitley County, McCreary Central, Knox Central, Clay County and Harlan County.

Bell County dropped a game to Class 3A, District 7 rival Rockcastle County in late-September.

However, Bell County blanked Harlan County 39-0 in its regular season finale on Friday, Oct. 27.

Hailing from bordering districts, Magoffin County and Bell County are unfamiliar foes.

The other opening round games in the KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs are Union County vs. Adair County, Franklin-Simpson vs. Hancock County, Hart County vs. Webster County, McLean County vs. Glasgow, Christian Academy-Louisville vs. Marion County, Garrard County vs. Elizabethtown, Mercer County vs. LaRue County, Central vs. Casey County, Lexington Catholic vs. West Carter, Russell vs. Bourbon County, Lloyd Memorial vs. Fleming County, Rockcastle County vs. Estill County, Lawrence County vs. Knox Central and Belfry vs. Clay County.

Kickoff for the Magoffin County-Bell County game is slated for 8 p.m.
