Chester Pennington

Chester Pennington, 74, of Falcon, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Born on September 26, 1951, Chester lived a life defined by kindness, humility, and generosity. He never sought recognition for the good he did, but those who knew him understood that he was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He found joy in the simple things in life and believed that treating people with compassion and respect was what mattered most. His quiet strength and unwavering willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Chester was a devoted father and grandfather who treasured his family above all else. He is survived by his loving children, Betty (Chris) Horne of Van Lear, Kentucky, Virginia (Don) Moore of Milton, West Virginia, and Chester F. (Sarah) Pennington of Lucasville, Ohio. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Victoria “Tori” Horne and Mason Jackson, who brought him tremendous pride and Joy.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Clarence Pennington of Van Lear, Kentucky; Clotine (Johnny) Adams of Falcon, Kentucky; Avanell (Wayne) Litteral of Falcon, Kentucky; Edward Dean (Arlene) Pennington of Flat Gap, Kentucky; Susie Salyer of Salyersville, Kentucky; Tommy Wayne Pennington of Falcon, Kentucky; and Gradie (James) Armstrong of Falcon, Kentucky. Chester also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will deeply miss him.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Burlie and Lillie Jewel Pennington, and his brothers, Raymond Pennington and Cleabern Pennington.

Chester’s legacy is not measured by material possessions, but by the countless lives he touched through his generosity and quiet acts of kindness. He lived simply and left the world a better place because he was in it.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his love, wisdom, and gentle example will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Services for Chester Pennington are set to private.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
