SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is set to host four of its first six opponents in the 2026 high school football season.
The Hornets are slated to welcome in Rowan County for their 2026 season opener on Friday, Aug. 21. Magoffin County and Rowan County are familiar foes.
The Hornets have additional home games scheduled versus Floyd Central, Winfield (W.Va.), Estill County, Pike County Central and Lawrence County. The first half of the 2026 high school football season will include other home games versus Floyd Central, Winfield and Estill County for the Hornets.
Magoffin County has away games slated versus Perry County Central, West Carter, Powell County and Letcher County Central.
Nathan Perkins is headed into his first season as Magoffin County head coach. The Hornets finished 3-7 in the 2025 high school football season.
Magoffin County opened preseason practice in July. The Hornets have been active since the KHSAA Dead Period ended on Thursday, July 9.
Magoffin County competes in Class 3A, District 8. The alignment for Class 3A, District 8 is as follows: Estill County, Lawrence County, Letcher County Central, Magoffin County, Powell County.
