Lady Hornets suffer season-ending loss to Belfry

PRESTONSBURG — Magoffin County suffered a season-ending loss in the opening round of the 15th Region Softball Tournament.

Belfry pulled away to beat Magoffin County 10-0 in five innings in the first round of the 15th Region Softball Tournament at StoneCrest on Monday, May 27.

The loss eliminated Magoffin County from the 15th Region Softball Tournament. Magoffin County exited the 2024 high school softball season 9-11.

Jaden Williams pitched for Magoffin County and took the loss in the circle. Williams struck out two Belfry batters.

Molly Fahm pitched a two-hit shutout for Belfry and earned the win in the circle. Fahm recorded 10 strikeouts.

Belfry scored 10 runs on 15 hits. Myra Blevins (four hits, one RBI), Natalie Fite (three hits, three RBIs), Alara Adkins (two hits, two RBIs), Abbi Vipperman (two hits), Baylor Hall (one hit, two RBIs), Makena Justice (one hit, one RBI), Makaylin Meade (one hit) and Alexia Blevins (one hit) each produced offensively for the Lady Pirates. Showing power at the plate for Belfry, Fite homered.

Magoffin County was limited to two hits. Katie Carty and Kiley Lemaster each doubled for the Lady Hornets.

In the other opening round games in the 15th Region Softball Tournament, it was Johnson Central 11, Pike County Central 5; Lawrence County 10, Shelby Valley 0 (5 innings) and Pikeville 11, Floyd Central 4.
