Lady Hornets defeat Menifee County in final regular season game 

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County pulled away to defeat Menifee County 17-7 in five innings in a high school softball regular season finale on Wednesday, May 14.

After registering the win, Magoffin County evened its record to 12-12.

Freshman Ava Hensley pitched a complete game for Magoffin County and earned the win in the circle. Hensley, who limited several Menifee County batters, recorded eight strikeouts.

Grace Rogers pitched a complete game for Menifee County and suffered the loss in the circle. Rogers recorded five strikeouts.

Magoffin County scored 17 runs on seven hits, benefiting from a balanced offensive attack. Kiley Lemaster (two hits, one RBI), Macy Williams (one hit, three RBIs), Katie Carty (one hit, one RBI), Abby Barnett (one hit, one RBI), Bella Trusty (one hit, one RBI), Kailyn Arnett (one hit, one RBI) and Finley Rudd (one RBI) each aided Magoffin County offensively.

Both Lemaster and Carty doubled. Leading Magoffin County on the basepaths, Baylee Hatfield scored four runs.

Offensively for Menifee County, Rogers (two hits), Shelby Cornett (two hits, one RBI), Aubrey Golden (one hit, two RBIs), Tori McKinney (one hit, one RBI), Ella Small (one hit, one RBI), and Shaddix Lewis (one hit) each chipped in.

Magoffin County defeated Menifee County for the second time in five days.
