Bicyclist injured in hit-and-run on rt. 40

FALCON – A woman was injured in a hit-and-run bicycle vs. car accident on Monday, with police still looking for information concerning the driver of the other vehicle.

On November 21, emergency crews were called to KY Rt. 40 for a motor vehicle vs. bicycle wreck in which the woman on the bicycle was thrown over the windshield of the vehicle that struck her, and then over the bridge and into the creek below.

The vehicle fled the scene and is the subject of a police investigation at this time.

All of the information known by authorities came from the victim, however, she was unable to give a description of the driver or vehicle that hit her. She told police the vehicle swerved out of its lane and into her lane of travel, hitting her on the bridge on Rt. 40 near the Horsepen turnoff.

People nearby arrived to the scene of the accident while the victim was still in the creek. According to emergency crews, she suffered extensive and serious injuries and was life flighted to a trauma center.

The collision remains under investigation by the Magoffin County Sheriff Department and Kentucky State Police.
