BURN BAN LIFTED

SALYERSVILLE – The burn ban is finally lifted for Magoffin County.
On Tuesday, November 21, Magoffin County Judge/Executive Matthew Wireman issued an executive order lifting the emergency burn ban that had been issued on November 8:

Whereas, weather conditions have changed significantly reducing the threat of forest fires, and;

Whereas, pursuant to KRS 149.400, Kentucky’s forest fire hazard season is in effect from October 1 through December 15, 2023 making it illegal to burn anything between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland;

Now, Therefore, I, Matthew C. Wireman, Magoffin County Judge/Executive, by the virtue and the powers and authorities vested in me as Judge/Executive by the Constitution and the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Do Hereby Order that the Emergency Bum Ban ordered on November 8, 2023, will no longer be in effect at 6 p.m. on November 21, 2023.

Important to note, during fire seasons, it is illegal to burn anything within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland between the hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Spring Forest Fire Hazard Season runs from February 15 through April 30 and the Fall Forest Fire Hazard Season runs from October 1 through December 15.
