Carol Jean Layne Jenkins age 72 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Monday, February 08, 2021 at the Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. She was born on May 18, 1948 in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Robert C. and Mabel Conley Layne.
Survivors include, one son, Scott (Leah) Jenkins of Salyersville, Kentucky, one daughter, Kristi (Darrell) Russell of Salyersville, Kentucky, special niece, Elizabeth Leann Pelphrey of Paintsville, Kentucky, one brother, Ed (Michelle) Layne of Maryland, three sisters, Andrea Sue Howard, Barbara K. Layne, both of Salyersville, Kentucky, Juanita Layne of Maryland, four grandchildren, Whitney Shae Jenkins, Zachery Scott Jenkins, Emily Grace Russell, Caleb Darrell Russell, special great niece and nephew, Laurel Olivia Pelphery, and Joshua Farmer Pelphrey.
Carol was a retired Teacher and faithful member of the Elk Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February11, 2021 from the Elk Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Paul Hiner and Allison Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery at the Mouth of Old Lick Creek Road. Family and friends may visit the church Wednesday, February 10, 2021 after 6:00 P.M. and any time prior to funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for contributions, in memory of Carol, be made to the Elk Creek Baptist Church.
These contributions can be mailed or dropped off at the church or the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are required.
