Clara “Kay” Lovely Elsea

Clara “Kay” Lovely-Elsea passed away at the age of 76 on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. She was born April 28, 1944 in Sandbottom, Kentucky the sixth child of ten to the late Ossie and Hortence Lovely. At the age of 17 she was married to the love of her life Charles Elsea, on April 21, 1962, who precedes her in death, for which he no doubt waits at the gate for her, to usher her into their eternal home to share.

She joins three brothers and four sisters in heaven, Lilly Mare Lovely, Louise Fletcher, Bessie “Bobby” Archer, Rex Lovely, Mitchell Lovely, Dottie Lovely-Kusiak and Garland Lovely. She is survived by one brother Nelson Lovely and her best friend, sister and piece of her heart Charolette Elsea.

When you speak of Kay, you know the love that she had for her children, she is survived by all of them Penny Howard (Husband, John Howard), David Elsea (Wife, Felicia Elsea), Charlene Mullins, Garland Elsea, Linda Tunis (Husband, Claude Tunis), Lisa Carty (Husband, Bub Carty), Roy Elsea (Wife, Angie Elsea), Wayne Elsea (Wife, Denise Elsea), Bobby Elsea (Wife Jackie Elsea), Saundra Bolen (Jeff Bolen).

Kay had eight grandchildren, that she loved dearly and imparted her words and wisdom with them, her message of family and faith survives with them, Jeremy Wayne Howard, Kayla N. Howard-Russell, Jessica Ann Salyer, David “Tub” Elsea II, Charles Daniel Brown, Chad Tyler Elsea, Johnna Brooke Elsea-Back, and Stefan Dwayne Elsea.

Kay was fortunate in her long life to witness the births of thirteen of her great-grandchildren, Tarah Russell, Addison Elsie Salyer, Taten Russell, Bryce Gregory Salyer, Miley Grace Salyer, Preston Tyler Russell, Brooklyn G. Back, Presley Kate Russell, Riley C. Back, Sophia Elsea, Hayden Charles Elsea, Paisley Elsea, and the newest edition to her ever growing family, Annie Grace Brown, the last edition that she got to meet.

Funeral services were held at the Magoffin County Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 28, 2020 with Greg Minix officiating. Burial followed at the Bal Whitt Cemetery in Royalton, Kentucky.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
