Fire destroys Little Road home

ROYALTON – A fire destroyed a mobile home in Royalton Tuesday night.

The District 3 Volunteer Fire Department was called to a mobile home fire on Little Road in Royalton just before 8 p.m. on February 14.

Tanner Stephens with the District 3 Volunteer Fire Department (D3VFD) told the Independent that when fire crews arrived, the back part of the mobile home was fully engulfed and they were able to extinguish the fire by 10 p.m.

Just before midnight, fire crews were called out, again, to the home, which was fully engulfed. Stephens said the fire had spread throughout the trailer and was starting to spread to a neighboring home, which did briefly catch fire, too. D3VFD was able to extinguish that fire before it could spread, with minor damages to the wall, but no contents of that home were damaged.

After extinguishing the fire a second time, they were called out, yet again, to the home at 4:35 a.m. due to neighbors being concerned it was going to spread, again. D3VFD observed the site until it was deemed not a threat to neighboring homes.

Fire crews were told there were possibly three people inside the home when the fire started the first time, but D3VFD searched the mobile home, and it was determined to be all clear of people and pets.

The fire remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Arson Investigators, so no names could be released at press time.
