SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County grand jury released the following indictments, handed down on September 3 and released in the past week:
Anthony Shane Dobbins, 40, of Coon Creek Road, in Salyersville, was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, fentanyl (a Class C felony). According to the indictment, on or about March 9, 2023, Dobbins allegedly possessed with the intent to manufacture, distribute or sell a quantity of fentanyl.
In a separate indictment, Dobbins is charged first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, greater than or equal to two grams of methamphetamine (Class C felony). According to that indictment, on or about May 5, 2022, Dobbins allegedly possessed with the intent to manufacture, distribute or sell a quantity of methamphetamine.
Betty Simpkins, 62, of East Maple Street, in Salyersville, is charged with third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, less than 20 dosage units (Class D felony); third-degree possession of a controlled substance (Class A misdemeanor); tampering with physical evidence (Class D felony); first-degree possession of a controlled substance (Class D felony); and second-degree possession of a controlled substance (Class A misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about July 10, 2025, Simpkins allegedly possessed 20 or more dosage units of gabapentin, a Schedule V controlled substance, for the purpose of sale, as well as possessed quantities of clonazepam, amphetamine, and buprenorphine. She is also accused of attempting to conceal or destroy evidence by flushing suboxone.
Warrants were issued on each of the defendants indicted.
Grand jury indictments with issued arrest warrants are released only after the defendant has been served with that arrest.
