Helen Minix Mulholland of Mason, Michigan, was born in Sycamore Branch near Carver, Kentucky, to parents Clyde and Flora (Salyer) Minix on February 15, 1935, and passed away on March 25, 2022. Her mother passed when Helen was two and she was subsequently raised by her father and stepmother, Icie (Rowe) Minix. She attended school in Tip Top, Kentucky, and after moving to Michigan, worked at Heartwood School, Modern Cleaners and Mason General Hospital. Helen was known for her kindness and sweet southern personality. Her family will miss her famous “hillbilly” breakfasts.
Helen married Jack Mulholland, who survives her, and together they raised four children: Keitha (Burt) Gulick, Sheryl Mulholland (deceased), Cynthia (Steven) Gowanlock and Scott (Laurie) Mulholland. She is also survived by her brothers, Hager (Jeanne) and Doyle (Marcella); sisters, Charlotte (Carlos deceased) Jackson, Iris (Tom deceased) Brown, and Doris (Leeon deceased) Davis. She is predeceased by her parents; daughter, Sheryl Mulholland; grandson, Steven Gowanlock II; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Robert Davis; brother and sister-in-law, Alvis and Geneva Minix; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Sharon Minix; brothers, Donald (Olive survives) and Lester (Ruth survives). She is also survived by six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lansing City Rescue Mission, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
