Hornets turn focus to offseason

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County has turned its focus to the high school football offseason.

Many experienced players will be back on the gridiron for Magoffin County in 2025. The 2025 high school football season will kick off in around nine months.

Magoffin County was able to carry momentum into the offseason after winning the final game on its 2024 schedule. Productive Magoffin County rolled past rival Morgan County in a regular season finale. The Hornets defeated the Cougars 41-18 on Friday, Nov. 1.

Delivering a dominant performance, Magoffin County rushed 47 times for 397 yards and six touchdowns in the win over Morgan County.

Several returning players and various incoming freshmen are expected to contribute for Magoffin County in 2025.

Currently, Magoffin County is seeking a home game in 2025 for either Friday, Aug. 22 or Friday, Sept. 5.

Head coach John DeRossett is preparing to guide Magoffin County in the 2025 high school football season.

Magoffin County will finalize and release its 2025 schedule later in the offseason.
