The Herald Whitaker Middle School Robotics Team was named Grand Champions in the regional competition of the First Lego League on Saturday, December 10, 2022. Held at the Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky, in Hazard, students were able to showcase their innovative projects to the judges, along with teams from around the region. The HWMS Heroic Hornets placed 1st in Core Values and 1st in Robot Performance. Students are currently planning for their state competition on February 4, 2022, and in the meantime, will be showcasing their project for 6th grade students at each of the elementary schools in the district.
Team members: 7th Grade: Tiffany Hoskins and Aaron Oliver and 8th Grade: Mayson Bailey, Collin Martin, and Luke Wireman. The HWMS Robotics Team is sponsored by Jerica Conley and Andrew Oliver.
