Law firm secured by family of injured student

SALYERSVILLE – One family of a student injured in the November 14 bus wreck has reportedly retained legal representation.

Last week the law office of Morgan & Morgan contacted the SI to confirm that they have been retained by the family of a student injured in the wreck.

On November 14, a Magoffin County Schools bus traveling toward Salyersville on KY Rt. 40 went over an embankment and struck a tree. When the wreck occurred, 18 students and the driver were on the bus, with all taken to the hospital for various degrees of injuries.

At press time, one student and the bus driver remain hospitalized, numerous children have returned to their classes, and many are still recovering at home.

Below is a statement from the family’s lawyers at Morgan & Morgan, Prestonsburg-based attorney Jarrod Bentley and the firm’s founder John Morgan:

“We have been retained by the family of a young child who was injured in the terrifying bus crash in Magoffin County. We are working to investigate what went wrong and what could have been done to prevent the crash. Our client has sustained physical and mental injuries, the latter of which will have an impact on them for the rest of their life. We are doing everything we can to help this family in the wake of this terrible incident and will fight for justice on their behalf.”

The SI will continue to follow this issue as it continues to unfold.

It took longer than I thought for the litigation to begin.
