Congratulations to our girls track and field for becoming the regional runners-up and the boys team for capturing 5th at the KHSAA 2A Regional Championships held in Harlan County on Tuesday, May 25. Teams competing included Belfry, Estill, Powell, Perry Central, Letcher Central, Pike Central, Knott Central, and Lawrence.
Haley Barnett, Stephanie Gasparac, Natalie Gasparac, Kaddance Gasparac, Alison Cantrell, and Alex Hibbens will all be competing at the state championships on Friday, June 11, at the University of KY.
Haley Barnett captured 1st place in both the shot put and discus throw.
Stephanie Helton captured 1st place in the 100 m hurdles, 2nd in 4 by 100 relay, 4th in high jump, and 5th in the discus throw.
Alison Cantrell placed 1st in pole vault, 2nd in long jump, 3rd in triple jump and 2nd in the 4 by 100m relay.
Alex Hibbens placed 1st in pole vault, 1st in triple jump, and 3rd in the 4 by 100m relay.
Natalie Gasparac captured 2nd in 4 by 100 relay, 4th in the 100 m dash, 5th in the 200m dash, and 3rd in the 4 by 400 relay.
Kaddance Gasparac captured 2nd in the 4 by 100 m relay, 4th in the 200m dash, 3rd in the 4 by 400 relay, and 5th in long jump.
Ethan Meade captured 6th in the 100 m dash, 3rd in long jump, 3rd in triple jump, and 3rd in the 4 by 100 m relay.
Tarren Hunley captured 3rd in 4 by 100 relay, 13th in the 100 m dash, 8th in long jump, and 5th in the 4 by 800 relay.
Brayden Combs placed 3rd in the 4 by 100 relay, 6th in the 4 by 400 m relay, and 5th in the 4 by 800 m relay.
Juliana Jordan captured 10th in the 100 m dash, 8th in the 400 m dash, and 3rd in the 4 by 400 relay.
Payton Howard captured 9th in the 400m dash, 9th in the 800m dash, and 3rd in the 4 by 400 relay.
Matthew Hall captured 10th in the 1600m run, 7th in the 800m run, 6th in the 4 by 400 relay, and 5th in the 4 by 800m relay.
Gage Gasparac placed 13th in the 400m dash, 6th in the 4 by 400 relay, and 5th in the 4 by 800 m relay.
Dason Burchett captured 5th in the 300m hurdles, 13th in the 200m dash, 6th in the 4 by 400m relay and 7th in high jump.
Bryce Salyer placed 10th in shot put and 12th in discus throw.
Brayden Allen placed 11th in shot put and discus throw.
The girls 4 by 100 relay team, Stephanie, Natalie, Kaddance and Alison broke the school record again with a time of 57.72 and will advance to state. The boys 4 by 100 relay team, Ethan, Tarren, Brayden and Alex, captured 3rd place with a time of 50.41.
We are so proud of these amazing athletes and look forward to jumping, throwing and running at state on June 11.
