Magoffin Co. man killed in US 23 wreck

PRESTONSBURG – A Magoffin County man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on US 23 on Wednesday morning.

Prestonsburg Police Department Public Information Officer Brad Caldwell told Mortimer Media Group the Prestonsburg Police Department (PPD) and Prestonsburg Fire Department were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at 6:35 a.m. on April 12 on US 23 near the Holiday Inn Hill and Mann Toyota, involving an SUV and coal truck.

Both vehicles were reportedly traveling in the southbound lanes with the coal truck in front of the SUV when the rear-end collision occurred, with a single fatality reported.

The driver of the SUV, identified as 22-year-old Brandon Lee Adams of Rockhouse Fork Road, in Salyersville, was reported by PPD as the one fatality in the wreck.

The coal truck driver was not injured and was medically cleared at the scene.
US 23 was shut down for over two hours following the wreck.

The collision is still under investigation by the Prestonsburg Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
