Magoffin residents indicted in Johnson Co.

PAINTSVILLE – On Thursday, November 17, a Johnson County grand jury released the following indictments that included Magoffin County residents:

Eric Rogers, 26, of Patchel Minix Rd., Salyersville, is charged with third-degree assault of a police officer (a Class D felony); fourth-degree assault, minor injury, (Class A misdemeanor); second-degree disorderly conduct (Class B misdemeanor); and public intoxication, excluding alcohol (Class B misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about January 11, 2023, Rogers allegedly caused the physical injury of a Paintsville Police Department officer, and to two of Paintsville ARH’s emergency room medical staff, as well as engaged in violent or threatening behavior while publicly intoxicated.

Travis M. Howard, 29, of Left Hand Sugar Camp, in Salyersville, is charged with theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 but under $10,000 – complicity (a Class D felony). According to the indictment, on or about September 27, 2023, Howard allegedly acted alone or in complicity with Ronnie Hitchcock (from Sitka, also indicted) to take a golf cart owned by another person.

Anthony Taulbee, 47, of Middle Fork, is charged with two counts of third-degree rape (Class D felonies) and third-degree sodomy (Class D felony). According to the indictment, on or about May 21, 2018, and again on May 22, 2018, Taulbee allegedly unlawfully engaged in intercourse with a minor, being a person in a position of authority and coming into contact with that minor as a result of that position. He is also accused of unlawfully performing deviate sexual intercourse on a minor during that same time period. For more on Taulbee’s cases, see the story on the front page.
