Restaurant row beautification project to start this fall

SALYERSVILLE – The Salyersville City Council met in regular session, discussing the $1.2 million project that started over four years ago for the beautification along Restaurant Row.

The council received information from the designers on the project about some of the specifics the city will be seeing soon, including entrance signage on both ends along the Mountain Parkway, wayfinding signage for all businesses and the downtown area.

They were given some graphics of the signage, fence panels, stone walls, etc., as well as the landscaping that will be done along Restaurant Row.

The designers are working with Kentucky Transportation District 10 to make sure the landscaping and signage done on their rights-of-way and water lines are approved by District 10, as well.

The contractor will maintain the plants, etc., for one year, but it will be up to the city to maintain it after that, which is why they are planning for water lines to run throughout to help maintain the landscaping.

Bids for the project will be advertised in stages, with the first phase, which includes landscaping, to be bid out this fall. They are also hoping to secure more funding to continue the work through Parkway Drive and the downtown area of Salyersville, as well.

The next regularly-scheduled Salyersville City Council meeting is tentatively slated for June 19.
