SALYERSVILLE – A South Carolina man was arrested on Tuesday after police received several complaints of alleged trafficking of narcotics.
Magoffin County Sheriff Department Deputy W. Lafferty was on patrol on October 15 when he observed a man walk out of Speedway, get in his car, and sit in the vehicle for approximately 20 minutes, according to the citation.
The sheriff’s office had already received complaints about the man, identified as Todd Kreigh, 52, of Lexington, South Carolina, for allegedly trafficking narcotics, so Deputy Lafferty and Deputy Donavon Watson approached Kreigh and asked him what he was doing and why he was avoiding them, according to the police report.
Kreigh reportedly told police he wasn’t avoiding them, but he was on the phone. Police asked if he had anything in the car, and he stated “no.” When asked, again, he turned over a small bag of marijuana, according to the citation.
At this time, the car was searched by police, at which time they reportedly found approximately 2 ½ ounces of marijuana, 1 ounce of methamphetamine, a small bag of what is believed to be fentanyl, three marijuana vape carts, approximately 20 Xanax bars, a meth pipe, a marijuana pipe, and a marijuana grinder, according to Kreigh’s arrest citation.
Kreigh was taken into custody and transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center and his car was towed.
At press time, Kreigh remains at the BSRDC, facing the following charges: first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second or greater (greater than 2 grams methamphetamine); trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces) first offense; first-degree possession of a controlled substance, fentanyl; second-degree possession of a controlled substance, drug unspecified; and buying or possessing drug paraphernalia.
