THREE INJURED IN ELK CREEK Wreck

ELK CREEK – A two-vehicle crash in the Elk Creek community of Magoffin County sent three to the hospital, with winter weather being an expected factor in the wreck.

On Thursday, January 26, two vehicles collided at the mouth of Corb Reed Road on Elk Creek, just as snow had fallen quickly and made the roads slushy.

Of the two vehicles there were a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle, with the male driver and passenger (his uncle) of the pickup both injured. The driver was reportedly partially ejected from the driver’s side door and his uncle suffered serious injuries, believed to have hit his head through the windshield. The uncle was taken via ambulance to an area hospital and the driver was transported via a personal vehicle to the hospital for medical treatment.

The female driver of the black sedan was also taken by ambulance to an area hospital, however, emergency personnel did have to wait on scene for another ambulance, as there was not a second unit available in the county at the time the call came in.

The status of the three injured in the wreck is not known at press time.
