SALYERSVILLE — The 2A, Section 8 Volleyball Tournament is scheduled to start at Pike County Central High School on Monday, Aug. 28.
Currently, 2A, Section 8 includes Magoffin County, Pike County Central, Boyd County, Floyd Central, Knott County Central, Lawrence County and Letcher County Central.
Magoffin County is slated to meet Lawrence County in the opening match of the 2A, Section 8 Volleyball Tournament at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 28.
The winner of the Magoffin County-Lawrence County match will advance to meet Pike County Central in the semifinals of the 2A, Section 8 Volleyball Tournament.
Floyd Central is the defending 2A, Section 8 Champion. A former 15th Region champion, Floyd Central shut out Pike County Central 2-0 (25-8, 25-15) in the 2022 2A, Section 8 Volleyball Tournament title match.
Under the direction of Coach Haley Miller, Magoffin County is currently competing in the 2023 high school volleyball season. Magoffin County, Johnson Central, Martin County and Paintsville make up the 57th District (15th Region).
The champion from Section 8 will advance to the 2A Volleyball State Tournament, which will be held in Owensboro in September.
