Indictments released: incest, rape & drug trafficking

SALYERSVILLE – A Magoffin County grand jury released four indictments on Friday, June 13, with charges ranging from sex crimes against children to assault and drug possession.

John D. May, 58, of S. River Road, Salyersville, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense, methamphetamine (Class D felony); fourth-degree assault, minor injury (Class A misdemeanor); possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor); and second-degree persistent felony offender (penalty enhancement). According to the indictment, on or about March 6, 2025, May allegedly possessed a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, wantonly or intentionally caused serious physical injury to another person, and committed the charges having been convicted of another felony in the last 10 years.

Dewayne Hunt

Dewayne Hunt, 59, of the Jack Adams Subdivision Road, Salyersville, is charged with incest, person less than 18 years of age by a person three or more years older (Class B felony); second-degree rape (Class B felony); and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse (Class D felony). According to the indictment, on or about October 27, 2021 through April 10, 2025, Hunt allegedly, engaged in sexual intercourse with a person he knew to be closely related to him, and less than 18 years old and him being more than three years older than her. During the same time period, he is accused of engaging in sexual intercourse with another person from a position of special trust, and subjected the person to sexual contact at least three different times.

According to the initial police report from his arrest in April, Kentucky State Police Post 9 Trooper Layne was dispatched on March 31, 2025, concerning an alleged rape that had reportedly occurred four years ago when the victim was 13 years old. After police conducted interviews and an investigation, they had Dewayne Curtis Hunt, 58, of Salyersville, come to Post 9 in Pikeville for an interview on April 10.

During the interview, Hunt was asked about the allegations made against him regarding sexual intercourse with the minor in 2021, but he denied the allegations, according to the police report. Hunt then went on to reportedly contradict himself, admitting to varying degrees of sexual abuse on at least three different occasions.

Hunt was taken into custody at Post 9 on April 10, 2025, and taken to the Big Sandy Detention Center, where he remains held on a $100,000 cash bond as of press time.

Rondall Fee

Rondall Fee, 59, of Thelma, is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, greater than or equal to two grams of methamphetamine (Class C felony); possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor); and third-degree fleeing and evading police (Class A misdemeanor). According to the indictment, on or about May 7, 2025, Fee allegedly possessed a quantity of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possessed items with the intent to use for the purpose of using a controlled substance, and while on foot knowingly disobeyed a direction to stop given by a recognized peace officer.

According to the original arrest citation, Rondall Fee, 59, of Thelma, Kentucky, was a passenger during a traffic stop on River Road on May 7, when, as the car came to a stop, he reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and began to flee.

Magoffin County Sheriff Department Deputy Donavon Watson wrote in his police report that he instantly recognized the man running to be Rondall Fee and he knew he had an active bench warrant, so he chased him, giving multiple verbal commands to stop, according to the citation.

Fee continued to flee around a barn and attempted to remove something from his pockets and approached a wooded area when Deputy Watson deployed his taser, according to the citation.

Fee stopped in his tracks and police were able take him into custody. Police found a used syringe, approximately 11.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, his cell phone and glasses upon an initial quick search of Fee. During the walk back to the police cruiser, Watson also found a black set of digital scales with residue in Fee’s pockets.

Police transported Fee to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where he has remained since his arrest and is being held on a $5,000 cash bond.

Gary M. Blanton, 34, of Puncheon Creek Road, Salyersville, is charged with first-degree sodomy, victim under 12 years of age (Class A felony); two counts of first-degree incest, victim under 12 years of age (Class A felony); first-degree rape, victim under 12 years of age (Class C felony); and first-degree sexual abuse, victim under 12 years of age (Class C felony). According to the indictment, on or about October 1, 2024, through December 12, 2024, Blanton allegedly engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 12 years old, sexual intercourse with someone known to be closely related to him, sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion, and sexual contact with a person incapable of consent because the person is less than 12 years old.

According to the arrest citation, Gary Matthew Blanton, 34, of Salyersville, was arrested on a complaint warrant.

According to the original warrant of arrest from May, Kentucky State Police Post 9 Trooper Joe Weddington was made aware that between October 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, Blanton would allegedly be naked and play with himself in front of the juvenile, would make the victim touch his genitalia, would use his finger inside the child’s private parts, and that he had reportedly inserted a knife into the child’s genitalia, causing bleeding. The victim is listed as being under the age of 12.

Blanton has been held at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center since his arrest on May 5, and is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
