PIKEVILLE – A third defendant has now been sentenced in federal drug trafficking case, with law enforcement promising more defendants are to come.

Last week, Marvin Hunter Jr., 32, was sentenced to 132 months imprisonment, five years supervised release and $100 special assessment on a charge of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances (methamphetamine and fentanyl), after taking a plea deal and pleading guilty earlier this year.

His co-defendants Minnie Johnson, 61, and Jennifer Fletcher, 45, were sentenced earlier this year in separate hearings after also taking plea deals, both found guilty of the same charge as Hunter and sentenced to 84 months imprisonment, five years supervised release and $100 special assessment.

According to Johnson’s sentencing memorandum, “The essential facts of the case are as follows. The defendant’s co-defendant, ****** was pulled over in a traffic stop for failure to dim the vehicle’s high beam lights. During a conversation with ******, the officer observed a plastic bag protruding from ******’s waistband, which contained seven grams of methamphetamine. ****** stated he acquired the methamphetamine from ****** and Jennifer Fletcher on Elk Creek for $150 at Minnie Johnson’s residence. He mentioned purchasing drugs there multiple times, noting that Johnson was present nearly every time and that he had seen as much as five pounds of methamphetamine at the location on one occasion. A search warrant was later executed at Minnie Johnson’s residence and plastic bags containing methamphetamine was discovered. On February 22, 2024, Minnie Johnson and Marvin Hunter sold 6 grams of methamphetamine and 1 gram of heroin to a Cooperating Witness (CW). Earlier that day, the CW discussed with Hunter the purchase of a half ounce of methamphetamine and 1 gram of heroin for $400. The deal occurred at Johnson’s residence, where Hunter conducted the transaction, and Johnson was observed counting the pre-recorded buy money.”
