Billy “Gene” Helton age 79 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Monday, April 6, 2026 at the Highlands ARH, Prestonsburg, Kentucky. He was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Sherman and Cassie Mae Hartstock Helton.
Survived by two sons, Gene David Helton and Billy Joe Helton both of West Liberty, Kentucky, one sister, Elva and her husband Raleigh Jenkins of West Liberty, Kentucky, one brother-in-law, Bill Stapleton, one granddaughter, Amber and her husband Brandon Henry, two great-granddaughters, Brannah Henry, Braylee Henry, and the mother of his children, Connie Helton Hunter.
In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by two brothers, Bud and his wife Mae Helton, Hassell and his wife Mary Helton, four sisters, Betty and her husband Garland Jenkins, Ina Nell and husband Calvin Lyon, Joyce Stapleton, Virgie and Den Francis.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 12, 2026 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Teddy Montgomery and Pastor Gary Ward officiating. Burial followed in the Trumbo Risner Cemetery at Coon Creek, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, family has requested contributions to be made at the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
