BURNING FORK – A woman was arrested this week after allegedly trying to stab and kick a police officer.
According to the arrest citation, the Magoffin County Sheriff Department Deputies Watson and Steve Montgomery received a call from dispatch on February 7 reporting a woman had been held hostage for three weeks.
Upon arrival, Montgomery attempted to make contact with a woman at the home, at which time she reportedly came at the deputy with a butcher knife.
When officers tried to arrest the woman, identified as Tammy Fletcher, 54, of Burning Fork, she resisted arrest, kicking the police cruiser door and windows, and when they tried to place her in handcuffs, she kicked Deputy Montgomery.
Fletcher was taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where she remains at press time, facing the charges of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, second-degree assault of a police officer, second-degree terroristic threatening and resisting arrest.
Nothing was reported in the police citation regarding if the hostage situation had been confirmed or if anyone else was facing charges in a case related to that.
