LEXINGTON — Senior guard Kennedi Stacy is among the leaders for third-ranked Transylvania University, which is off to a 10-0 start in the 2022-23 women’s college basketball season.
A Magoffin County High School graduate, Stacy is averaging 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the Pioneers. The Salyersville native is an experienced starter and longtime leader for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) member.
Currently, Transylvania is 10-0 overall and 4-0 in the (HCAC). The Pioneers have posted wins over Concordia University Texas, UT Dallas, Wilmington College, Dennison University, Franklin College, Rose-Hulman Institute, Bluffton University, Spalding University, John Carroll College and Manchester University. Transylvania pulled away to defeat Manchester 76-44 for its 10th win in the 2022-23 women’s college basketball season on Monday, Dec. 19.
The Pioneers’ remaining regular-season schedule is as follows: Dec. 29 – Wisconsin Lutheran College, Dec. 30 – Berea College, Jan. 4 – at Earlham College, Jan. 7 – at Defiance College, Jan. 11 – at Mount St. Joseph University, Jan. 14 – Anderson University, Jan. 18 – Hanover College, Jan. 25 – Manchester University, Jan. 28 – at Bluffton University, Feb. 1 – at Franklin County, Feb. 4 – Defiance College, Feb. 8 – Mount St. Joseph University, Feb. 11 – at Anderson University, Feb. 14 – at Hanover College, Fen. 17 – Earlham College.
The HCAC Women’s Basketball Tournament is scheduled to tip off on Sunday, Feb. 19.
Stacy is back on the court after excelling during her junior campaign. As a junior in the 2021-22 women’s college basketball season, Stacy started 28 games for the Pioneers. Stacy averaged 13.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game as a junior for Transylvania in the 2021-22 women’s college basketball season. Following her junior campaign, Stacy earned first team all-conference honors. She finished the 2021-22 women’s college basketball season second on her team in points, field goals, three-point field goals, free throws, rebounds, assists and steals.
