Florene “Sis” Barnett, 80, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 4, 1942, in Martin, KY to James and Ruth (Hicks) Rowe. She married Eugene Barnett, and he preceded her in death in 1983.
Sis enjoyed playing BINGO and taking trips to the casino. She was known for her storytelling and her famous biscuits and gravy served at Kasey’s Diner in Litchfield.
Survivors include her children, James “Andy” (Leanna) Barnett, Thomas (Laurie) Barnett, Daniel (Vickie) Barnett and Onalee (Kenneth) Waite; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Rosie Allen, Bill (Jane) Rowe, Jerry (Deb) Rowe, Earlene Carothers, Susie Carothers and James (Kris) Nichols; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Sis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; son, Leonard; and siblings, Shannon Rowe, Bob Rowe, Haskell Nichols, Wanda Gunter, Leona Nichols and Wendell Rowe; and brother-in-law, Nathaniel “Nay” Allen.
Funeral services for Florene “Sis” Barnett were held Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield with Pastor Abe Prater officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Litchfield.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hillsdale County.
