FOUR TEENS INJURED IN U.S. 460 WRECK

NEW U.S. 460 – Four Magoffin County teenagers were injured in a two-vehicle collision on Monday, with one still hospitalized.

On October 23, around 6 p.m., a vehicle driving toward Salyersville on new U.S. 460 containing three Magoffin County juveniles reportedly stopped in the road to avoid hitting a dog in the road. A vehicle directly behind them swerved around their car and continued west. The next vehicle, a pickup truck, also driven by a Magoffin County teen, had the cruise control set on 60 MPH and collided directly into the back of the other vehicle.

All four girls involved in the wreck were transported to hospitals for medical attention. The driver of the truck and one of the occupants of the car were released later that night, but one of the girls had multiple broken vertebrae. She was released from the hospital on Tuesday and doctors are monitoring her condition to make sure it doesn’t need surgery.

The backseat occupant of the front car remains in the hospital and is in surgery as of press time on Wednesday.

Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post continues to investigate the wreck and the SI will report if any new information is released.
