William Grant Powers

William Grant Powers age 92 of Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the Highlands ARH in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. He was born July 20, 1931 in Paintsville, Kentucky to the late Frank B. and Emily Adams Powers.

Survived by his wife, Maxie Blair Powers, one sister, Lora Hall of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, one daughter-in-law, Fran Houston Powers of Mississippi, three step-daughters, Betty Porter of Ohio, Judy (John) Conley of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Bonnie Ellis of Paintsville, Kentucky, four grandchildren, Kimberly (Dave) McCoy, Kelly Powers, Emily (Andy) Stidham, Nathaniel “Nathan” Grant Powers, eight step-grandchildren, Amy (John) O’Relly, Jeff Porter, Karen McKinney, Gwendolyn Cheek, James Chadwick “Chad” Cheek, Donald Bradley “Brad” Cheek, Molly Holbrook, Katie Redmond, with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Grant is preceded in death by his first wife, Imogene Blanton Powers, two sons, Frederick “Rick” Powers, Leonard “Ray” Powers, one daughter-in-law JoAnn “Jodi” Blanton Powers, step-son-in-law, Phillip “Phil” Porter, step-daughter, Diana Lemaster, one grandson, David Ray Powers, three brothers. Ernest Powers, Paul Clayton Powers, Oliver Charles Powers, four sisters, Edith Powers, Nellie Jane Kelly, Pheoba Fitzgerald, Sina Rose Conger, one step-granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Cheek Helton.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, May 07, 2024 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with John Blanton and Freddie Salyer officiating. Burial followed in the Blanton Cemetery at Oil Springs, Kentucky.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
