SALYERSVILLE – In a little over one week the community will come together for the first in-person Magoffin County Community Day since the pandemic. Come join us in person for Magoffin County Community Day on August 19th here in Salyersville, KY.
This year some of the best bluegrass musicians are scheduled to appear, also Terry Miller & Traveler will once again close out the day with their oldies rock, all for the still-low price of $10 per person, kids 12 and under are free. More details to come.
New this year, there will be a Community Day “Cow Bell” Quiz, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., also at Ramey Memorial Park. Hosts “Roy Rogers” and “Dale Evans” will lead participants through some quiz questions, with the grand prize totaling at $2,000, and second and third prizes at $500 each.
Contest rules include:
Tickets to enter the contest will be sold by participating non-profit groups for $5 each. Each participating group may sell them prior to August 19, as well as on Community Day.
The non-profit selling the ticket will write the name of the person buying the ticket on the ticket and keep a duplicate for placing in the contest draw box.
Three tickets will be drawn on Community Day no earlier than 6 PM, and those holding the tickets will be asked to come to the stage to participate in the Cow Bell Quiz. The holder of the ticket may bring a person with them to assist in answering the quiz questions.
The winner of the Grand Prize will be the person answering most questions correctly. The second and third prizes will go to the other people whose tickets were drawn.
If the person buying the ticket cannot be available on the day of the drawing, they may allow another person to participate in the contest if their ticket is drawn, by providing that person with their ticket to bring to the stage.
The Cow Bell Quiz will include a list of questions, some of which may be related to Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.
Salyersville National Bank employees are not eligible to participate in the Cow Bell Quiz.
Remember Community Day was established as a day to help Magoffin County’s nonprofit organizations. Come out and enjoy the music, fun and good food and help our nonprofits continue to help us. Tickets are available at either Salyersville National Bank location and people are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
Salyersville National Bank, who is hosting the event, is also adding waterslide entertainment for visitors of all ages to combat the heat (slides open from noon until 6 p.m.). As always, they will be holding a raffle of a Ford Crown Victoria, with each entrance ticket making the attendee eligible for the drawing (must be present during the drawing to win).
