Hornets beat Bath County, 6-4

OWINGSVILLE — Returning to the win column, Magoffin County upended 16th Region member Bath County 6-4 in a high school baseball game on Saturday, April 16.

The win over Bath County allowed Magoffin County to halt a nine-game losing skid.

Alex Hibbins started on the mound for Magoffin County and earned the win. Hibbins pitched six innings, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks while recording one strikeout.

Lucas Litteral closed out the game on the mound for the Hornets and posted the save. Litteral pitched the final inning, striking out three batters.

Adam Whitt started on the mound for the Wildcats and took the loss. Whitt pitched six innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits and two walks while recording six strikeouts.

Brock Donohew closed out the game on the mound for the Wildcats. Donohew pitched the final inning, allowing two runs on two walks.

The Hornets scored six runs on 10 hits. Litteral led Magoffin County’s offensive effort. Finishing a home run short of hitting for the cycle, Litteral went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Behind Litteral in Magoffin County’s offensive attack, Caleb Wilson, Alex Hibbins and Ethan Salyer contributed two hits each for the Hornets.

Chipping in offensively or Magoffin County, Ian McCarty added one hit.

Wilson collected two RBIs for the Hornets while Litteral, Austin Gevedan and Kaden Back each drove in one run.

Donohew, Logan Highley and Jacob Easton provided one hit apiece for the Wildcats.

Donohew doubled and drove in two of Bath County’s four runs.

The Hornets and Wildcats aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2022 high school baseball season.
