SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County dropped a 57th District baseball series to Martin County earlier in the week.
Martin County shut out the Hornets 10-0 in five innings in a 57th District baseball game in Inez on Tuesday, April 18. The shutout win allowed Martin County to sweep a 57th District series from the Hornets.
Martin County pulled away to defeat the Hornets 14-2 in five innings in a 57th District matchup in Salyersville on Monday, April 17.
Both Magoffin County and Martin County will compete in the 57th District Baseball Tournament in mid-May.
The Hornets, despite dropping the 57th District series to Martin County, have shown improvement. Magoffin County has notched wins over Floyd Central and Menifee County.
Several players are producing for Magoffin County in the 2023 high school baseball season. Currently, Magoffin County is 2-9 overall and 0-2 in the 57th District.
Magoffin County has regular season games remaining versus Bath County, Jackson City, Johnson Central, East Ridge, Betsy Layne, Paintsville, Model, Powell County, Menifee County, Knott County Central and Shelby Valley.
The Hornets will be matched up against Johnson Central and Paintsville in two additional 57th District series over the next month.
