BETSY LAYNE — Remaining in the win column, Magoffin County knocked off Betsy Layne 63-50 on Thursday, Jan. 25.
Magoffin County (10-8) shot 45.1 percent (23-of-51) from the field. The Hornets made two of 16 three-point field goal attempts.
Magoffin County shot 88.2 percent (15-of-17) from the free throw line.
Controlling the backboards, Magoffin County outrebounded Betsy Layne 37-21.
Aden Barnett scored a game-high 26 points to lead Magoffin County to the win. Barnett made eight of nine foul shots.
Zane Whitaker delivered a double-double for Magoffin County, scoring 16 points and pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds.
Narrowly missing double figures, Walker Russell and Grayson Whitaker netted nine points apiece for the Hornets.
Rounding out Magoffin County’s scoring, Noah Sammons chipped in three points.
Betsy Layne shot 38.8 percent (14-of-49) from the field. The Bobcats made four of 16 three-point field goal attempts.
Betsy Layne shot 72.7 percent (eight-of-11) from the free throw line.
Carter Parsons scored 21 points to lead the Bobcats. Parsons made six of seven two-point field goal attempts.
Accompanying Parsons in double figures for Betsy Layne, Andrew Kidd netted 16 points.
