Hornets outlast Frankfort, 7-6

SALYERSVILLE — Claiming its first win in the 2022 high school baseball season, Magoffin County outlasted visiting Frankfort 7-6 on Friday, March 25.

Magoffin County entered the win column after opening the 2022 high school baseball season with losses to Floyd Central, Elliott County, Lawrence County and Shelby Valley.

The Hornets and Panthers battled back and forth throughout the high school baseball matchup. Magoffin County, under the direction of head coach Jacob Litteral, made the most of its offensive opportunities to claim the victory.

Alex Hibbins started on the mound for Magoffin County and earned the win. Hibbins allowed six runs on four hits and six walks over six and two-thirds innings while recording four strikeouts.

Colin Litteral closed out the game on the mound for Hornets and posted the save.

Magoffin County scored seven runs on only three hits. Lucas Litteral, Kaden Back and Colin Litteral recorded one hit apiece for the Hornets. Back, Lucas Litteral and Ian McCarty each drove in one run for Magoffin County in the win.

Magoffin County dealt Frankfort its second straight loss. Following the setback, Frankfort dropped to 5-4.

The Hornets and Panthers aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2022 high school baseball season.
