SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is ranked fourth in The Cats’ Pause 2022-23 Kentucky Basketball Yearbook Preseason 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Poll.
Published after voting was conducted among coaches, the Preseason 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Poll features multiple title contenders.
Heading into the 2022-23 season, Magoffin County is the top-ranked 57th District boys’ basketball team.
The Hornets are ranked ahead of Martin County (5), Betsy Layne (6), Johnson Central (7), Lawrence County (8), Floyd Central (9) and Prestonsburg (10).
Magoffin County is listed behind Shelby Valley (3), Pike County Central (2) and reigning champion Pikeville (1).
Following a loss to former 15th Region champion Martin County in the semifinals of the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament, Magoffin County concluded the 2021-22 season 12-16.
Under the direction of Coach Scott Castle, Magoffin County opened preseason practice earlier in the month.
Magoffin County is poised to feature one of the most experienced lineups among 15th Region boys’ basketball teams in the 2022-23 season.
