LEXINGTON – Magoffin County is ranked sixth in the Lexington Herald-Leader Preseason 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Poll.
The Hornets are listed ahead of Shelby Valley (7), East Ridge (8), Lawrence County (9) and Pike County Central (10).
Magoffin County follows Belfry (5), Paintsville (4), Johnson Central (3), Pikeville (2) and Martin County (1) in the poll.
Martin County is the reigning 15th Region boys’ basketball champion.
However, since the Herald-Leader preseason region poll was released, Martin County lost center Trey James to Iona. James made the decision to leave high school to join the college team for its 2020-21 season.
Magoffin County concluded the 2019-20 season 15-15 following a loss to Martin County in the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament Semifinals.
Boys’ high school basketball teams from across the 15th Region competed in season openers earlier in the week.
