Hornets to host Bath County

SALYERSVILLE — After dropping back-to-back 57th District games to Martin County, Magoffin County is set to host 16th Region member Bath County on Thursday, April 20.

The Hornets and Wildcats met earlier in the season. Bath County pulled away to defeat visiting Magoffin County 11-1 in six innings on March 18.

Magoffin County is 2-9. The Hornets have notched wins over Floyd Central and Menifee County. Magoffin County has dropped games to Bath County, Pike County Central, Breathitt County, Floyd Central and Lawrence County.

Bath County has won six of its last seven games. One of the 16th Region’s most improved teams, Bath County is 13-7 through its first 20 games in the 2023 high school baseball season. The Wildcats have posted wins over Magoffin County, Elliott County, West Carter, Berea, Model, Menifee County, Madison Senior (Ohio), Morgan County, Fairview, Bracken County, Augusta and Paris. Bath County has dropped games to Russell, Lewis County, Rowan County, Nelson County, Muhlenberg County, Hancock County and Berea.

Magoffin County and Bath County met once during the 2022 high school baseball season. The Hornets managed to outlast the Wildcats 6-4 in Owingsville on April 16, 2022.

First pitch for the Magoffin County-Bath County baseball game is set for 6 p.m.
