Lady Hornets beat Breathitt County in 5 innings, 16-3

JACKSON — Magoffin County pulled away to beat Breathitt County 16-3 in five innings on Saturday, April 15.

Under the direction of Coach Tony Skaggs, Magoffin County excelled offensively and defensively throughout the game.

Magoffin County pitcher Jaden Williams claimed the win in the circle. Williams allowed only one earned run while recording five strikeouts.

Mahala Bowling started in the circle for Breathitt County and took the loss. Bowling pitched two and two-thirds innings, allowing six earned runs.

Replacing Bowling in the circle, Alexis Pelfrey pitched in relief for the Lady Cats.

Magoffin County scored 16 runs on 17 hits. Williams (two hits, three RBIs), Jaylynn Lafferty (four hits, three RBIs), Katie Howard (four hits, four RBIs), Kayleigh Lemaster (two hits, two RBIs), Makenna Jordan (two hits, one RBI), Kiley Lemaster (two hits), Katie Carty (one hit, one RBI) and Maci Minix (one RBI) each produced at the plate for Magoffin County in the convincing victory.

Both Williams and Howard homered for Magoffin County in the win.

Christina Butler (two hits) and Olivia Clemons (one hit, two RBIs) combined to pace Breathitt County at the plate.
Magoffin County and Breathitt County aren’t scheduled to meet again in the 2023 high school softball season.

North Laurel 16, Magoffin County 1 (3 innings): Magoffin County couldn’t battle back from behind as North Laurel won 16-1 in three innings on Saturday, April 15.

Katie Carty pitched for Magoffin County and took the loss.
Jaden Williams led Magoffin County, hitting a home run for the Lady Hornets.
