Lady Hornets edge East Ridge, 31-29

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County edged visiting East Ridge 31-29 in a girls’ high school basketball regular season finale on Friday, Feb. 18.

Under the direction of head coach Justin Williams, determined Magoffin County claimed a hard-fought win over a 15th Region rival.

Magoffin County connected on eight of 41 shots from the field. The Lady Hornets drained one of six attempts from three-point range.

Magoffin County shot 46.7 percent from the free throw line, connecting on 14 of 30 foul shots.

Dominating inside, Magoffin County outrebounded East Ridge 35-23.

Angel Mullis recorded a double-double to lead Magoffin County to the win, scoring 14 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.

Accompanying Mullis in double figures for the Lady Hornets, Karah Lafferty netted 12 points. Rounding out Magoffin County’s individual scoring, Kennedy Williams and Abby Barnett added four points and one point, respectively.

Barnett ranked as Magoffin County’s second-leading rebounder, hauling down eight rebounds.

East Ridge shot 33.3 percent from both inside the arc and three-point range. The Lady Warriors connected on five of 15 three-point field goal attempts.

Sylvia Ratliff scored 10 points and claimed seven rebounds to pace East Ridge in the regular season finale.

Along with Ratliff, East Ridge received scoring from Lauren Mann (six points), Leah Wells (five points), Haley Bentley (three points), Makenzie Sawyers (two points), Madison Adkins (two points) and Serenity Ramsey (one point).
