PIKEVILLE — Magoffin County won two of three games in the Lyndel Potter Memorial Tournament, defeating Grundy (Va.) and Mingo Central (W.Va.).
Elizabethton (Tenn.) dealt Magoffin County a loss during the Pikeville-hosted tournament.
Magoffin County 15, Mingo Central (W.Va.) 1 (5 innings): Magoffin County pulled away to defeat Mingo Central (W.Va.) 15-1 in five innings in the Lyndel Potter Memorial Tournament on Saturday, April 22.
Jaden Williams pitched a no-hitter for Magoffin County and claimed the win in the circle. Williams recorded four strikeouts.
Excelling offensively, Magoffin County scored 15 runs on 11 hits. Williams (one hit, one RBI), Rylie Castle (two hits, two RBIs), Makenna Jordan (two hits, one RBI), Kayleigh Lemaster (two hits), Katie Howard (one hit, two RBIs), Kayda Carr (one hit, two RBIs), Katie Carty (one hit) and Abby Barnett (one hit) each thrived at the plate for Magoffin County in the tournament game. Castle drilled two doubles for the Lady Hornets.
Elizabethton (Tenn.) 16, Magoffin County 2 (5 innings): Magoffin County was held to one hit as Elizabethton (Tenn.) pulled away to win 16-2 in five innings in the Lyndel Potter Memorial Tournament on Saturday, April 22.
