LICK CREEK – Returning to the win column, visiting Magoffin County knocked off East Ridge 36-25 in a girls’ high school basketball game on Saturday. Jan. 15.
Magoffin County shot 37.8 percent (14-of-37) from the field in the win. The Lady Hornets connected on two of seven three-point field goal attempts.
Magoffin County hit six of 14 attempts from the free throw line.
Thriving inside, Magoffin County averaged nine rebounds per quarter during the matchup versus 15th Region rival East Ridge. The Lady Hornets claimed 36 rebounds.
Angel Mullis delivered a double-double to lead Magoffin County, scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.
Finishing near double figures for the Lady Hornets, Kennedy Williams netted eight points.
The additional scorers for Magoffin County in the win included Jaylen McCarty (six points), Karah Lafferty (five points), Abby Barnett (four points) and Kara Risner (two points).
Barnett ranked as Magoffin County’s second-leading rebounder, grabbing nine rebounds for the Lady Hornets.
Magoffin County is scheduled to host East Ridge for a regular season finale on Thursday, Feb. 17.
