INEZ — Magoffin County defeated Martin County 16-9 in a 57th District softball game on Wednesday, May 13.
The Lady Hornets won convincingly on the road.
Karissa Keeton started in the circle for Magoffin County and earned the win. Keeton pitched six innings and recorded seven strikeouts.
Following Keeton, Ava Hensley pitched one inning in relief for Magoffin County and claimed the save.
Alyssa Mullins pitched for Martin County and suffered the loss in the circle. Mullins recorded five strikeouts.
Magoffin County, which tallied its third straight win, scored 16 runs on 19 hits. A balanced offensive attack for Magoffin County included Keeton (three hits, one RBI), Macy Williams (three hits, four RBIs), Abby Barnett (three hits, three RBIs), Kelsey Slone (three hits, two RBIs), Kiley Lemaster (two hits, two RBIs), Maci Minix (two hits), Kailyn Arnett (one hit, two RBIs), Bella Trusty (one hit, one RBI) and Jaycie Wells (one hit) contributing. Displaying power at the plate, Barnett homered. Showing speed on the bases, both Williams and Slone tripled. Supplying another extra-base hit, Williams doubled.
Martin County scored nine runs on seven hits. Mullins (one RBI), Bella Muncy (two hits, one RBI), Haley Robinson (two hits), Brianna Muncy (two hits) and Sophie Harless (one hit, two RBIs) accounted for Martin County’s offense.
Magoffin County notched its first 58th District win in the 2026 high school softball season.
