SALYERSVILLE – Senior quarterback Lucas Litteral and sophomore athlete Aden Barnett are combining to lead Magoffin County’s offensive attack in the 2021 high school football season.
Both Litteral and Barnett are among the top football players in Class 3A.
Litteral leads Magoffin County in both passing and rushing. Through the air, Litteral has completed 73 passes for 1,557 yards and 15 touchdowns. On the ground, Litteral has rushed 83 times for 555 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Hornets.
Barnett leads Magoffin County in receiving and ranks as the Hornets’ second-leading rusher. Through the air, Barnett has hauled in 25 receptions for 756 yards and 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Barnett has rushed 24 times for 243 yards and five touchdowns.
As a team, Magoffin County has rushed 195 times for 1,100 yards and 18 touchdowns in the 2021 high school football season. Chipping in on the ground for Magoffin County, Ben Lafferty has rushed 22 times for 131 yards and two touchdowns.
Brad Standifer ranks second in receiving for the Hornets. Standifer has hauled in 17 receptions for 353 yards and three touchdowns.
Magoffin County features three receivers with 15 or more receptions. Third in receiving for the Hornets, Grayson Whitaker has reeled in 19 receptions for 322 yards and two touchdowns. Producing on the ground for the Hornets, Whitaker has delivered one rushing touchdown.
Emerging as a receiver for the Hornets, Colin Literal has hauled in seven receptions for 129 yards.
Curtis Jenkins paces Magoffin County defensively. Jenkins has recorded a team-high 90 tackles for the Hornets.
Following Jenkins in the key defensive category, Brayden Standifer has recorded 55 tackles for Chris Gamble-coached Magoffin County.
The Hornets are slated to host Morgan County for a regular season finale on Friday, Oct. 29.
