Litteral pitches no-hitter

SALYERSVILLE — Behind a no-hitter from senior pitcher Lucas Litteral, Magoffin County shut out visiting Martin County 4-0 in a 57th District baseball game on Wednesday, April 20.

The Hornets remained in the win column after knocking off 16th Region member Bath County 6-4 on Saturday, April 16.

Litteral turned in a dominant performance to claim the win on the mound, allowing only two walks while recording 15 strikeouts over seven innings. The Magoffin County hurler, who is committed to Rend Lake College, threw 82 pitches. A longtime leader for the Hornets, Litteral stayed ahead of Martin County batters throughout the district game.

Chase Stacy started on the mound for Martin County and took the loss. Stacy pitched two innings, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks while recording four strikeouts.

Evan Crum pitched in relief for the Cardinals. Crum worked four scoreless innings, holding Magoffin County hitless while giving up three walks and logging five strikeouts.

Magoffin County plated four runs on five hits. Caleb Wilson, Colin Litteral, Kaden Back, Ethan Salyer and Lucas Litteral each recorded one hit for the Hornets. Back doubled and collected three RBIs for Magoffin County in the win. Helping his pitching cause at the plate, Lucas Litteral drove in one run.

Both Magoffin County and Martin County are slated to compete in the 57th District Baseball Tournament in May.
