Litteral, Salyer combine to lead Hornets on diamond

SALYERSVILLE — Senior Lucas Litteral and freshman Ethan Salyer combined to lead Magoffin County throughout the 2022 high school baseball season.

Litteral paced Magoffin County on the mound, compiling an 0.86 ERA while recording 120 strikeouts. The Magoffin County senior allowed only 19 hits and 21 runs. Litteral, who has signed with Rend Lake College, amassed a 4-4 record while claiming one save.

Offensively, Litteral batted .333, second-best for the Hornets. Litteral collected 21 hits and a team-high 14 RBIs.

Salyer led Magoffin County at the plate, batting .358. The productive Salyer delivered 29 hits. Salyer led Magoffin County in batting average, hits and runs. He delivered 25 runs while adding 10 RBIs.

Ian McCarty, Colin Litteral, Kaden Back and Alex Hibbens were among Magoffin County’s additional productive hitters in the 2022 high school baseball season.

Hibbens followed Lucas Litteral’s leading performance on the mound, recording three wins.

Contributing defensively, Colin Litteral provided one save on the mound for the Hornets.

Following a loss to Johnson Central in the semifinals of the 57th District Baseball Tournament, Magoffin County exited the 2022 high school baseball season 7-23. The Hornets notched wins over Johnson Central, Frankfort, Bath County, Martin County, Bluegrass United, Elliott County and Betsy Layne during the 2022 high school baseball season.
