EASTERN — Continuing to excel, Magoffin County finished third in the high school division of the Jaguar Shootout at Floyd Central High School on Saturday, Jan. 21.
The Hornets turned in a solid performance, finishing third among eight teams.
Magoffin County (3,190) placed behind perennial title contender Prestonsburg (3,341) and Letcher County Central 1 (3,392).
The Hornets finished in front of Floyd Central 1, Letcher County Central 2, Knott County Central, David and Floyd Central 2.
Individually, Chance Gipson finished first in the male division to lead the Hornets. Gipson recorded a score of 293 to win the event, placing first out of 87 archers.
Chloe Skaggs was the top female finisher for Magoffin County, shooting 279 to place sixth out of 98 competitors.
Herald Whitaker placed second in the middle school division. Luke Montgomery and Nick Morrison were the top two individual finishers for Herald Whitaker, placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
