Magoffin County hoops team to compete in holiday event

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County will be among the girls’ high school basketball teams joining host Raceland to compete in the Ryan Keeton ExP Realty Ohio River Classic Dec. 28-30.

The Ryan Keeton ExP Realty Ohio River Classic will feature girls’ high school basketball teams from multiple regions.

Additional teams slated to compete in the girls’ high school basketball holiday event will include Betsy Layne, East Carter and Shelby Valley.

The Lady Hornets showed improvement during the 2021-22 hoops campaign. Magoffin County, following a loss to rival Martin County in the semifinals of the 57th District Tournament, exited the 2021-22 girls’ high school basketball season 7-24.

A longtime member of the 57th District, Magoffin County will meet numerous familiar opponents in the 2022-23 girls’ high school basketball season.

Magoffin County’s 2022-23 schedule will be published prior to the start of the upcoming girls’ high school basketball season.

Several experienced players are poised to lead Magoffin County in the 2022-23 girls’ high school basketball season.

Under the direction of Coach Justin Williams, Magoffin County will open preseason practice in mid-October.
