SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County and 15th Region counterpart Pike County Central are scheduled to meet twice during the 2023-24 boys’ high school basketball season.
The Hornets and Hawks will meet in a home and away series.
Magoffin County will host Pike County Central for a home game on Dec. 12.
The Hornets will visit the Hawks on Jan. 12.
Tip-off for each Magoffin County-Pike County Central boys’ basketball game is set for 7:30 p.m.
Magoffin County and Pike County Central split a pair of games during the 2022-23 boys’ high school basketball season. The Hornets managed to outlast the Hawks 56-54 in the 2A, Section 8 Boys’ Basketball Tournament title game.
Reigning 2A, Section 8 Champion Magoffin County compiled a 16-11 record in the 2022-23 boys’ high school basketball season.
The Hornets’ 2022-23 season ended following a loss to rival Paintsville in the semifinals of the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament. Winning on its home floor, Paintsville outlasted Magoffin County 63-60 in overtime.
Pike County Central is the defending 60th District Champion. Following a loss to Pikeville in the semifinals of the 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament, Pike County Central exited the 2022-23 season 21-9.
Several experienced players are poised to return to the court for both Magoffin County and Pike County Central in the 2023-24 boys’ high school basketball season.
Magoffin County’s schedule for the 2023-24 boys’ high school basketball season will be finalized, released and published on a later date.
