SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is set to visit Ashland for a game in the opening round of the 2022 Class 3A UK HealthCare Sports Medicine State Football Finals.
The Hornets and Tomcats hail from bordering districts. Newfound rivals, Magoffin County and Ashland did not meet during the 2022 regular season.
Magoffin County is 4-6. The Hornets have notched wins over Knott County Central, Bellevue, Floyd Central and Morgan County. Magoffin County has dropped games to Breathitt County, Prestonsburg, Lawrence County, Belfry, Pike County Central and Clay County.

Ashland is 6-4. The Tomcats have registered wins over Boyd County, West Jessamine, Elizabethtown, East Carter, Russell and Greenup County. Ashland has dropped games to Raceland, George Washington (W.Va.), Wheelersburg (Ohio) and Hazard.
